A solid and effective design brief serves as the foundation for creating amazing designs. It provides designers with a clear understanding of project goals, target audience, brand identity, and limitations, fostering collaboration and effective communication.
When a design brief is well-crafted, it becomes a powerful tool that ensures a successful and efficient design process. Follow these steps to create the perfect design brief:
1. Prepare the brand profile
In the platform, you can have a place where you can easily store notes, assets, logos, guidelines, and colors for all of your brands. The best way to drive consistency is by setting up brand profiles and connecting them to the request as you create the design brief.
2. Flesh out the description and key message, or try out the MBC
Do your best to provide all the significant points and instructions that are needed in the description field, however, keep in mind that a description doesn't necessarily need to be long to be effective.
Add a detailed breakdown of the text/copy to be used in the design. Format it by letting us know the header, body, and if there are text that should be italicized or underlined. For video requests, it is worth using a supporting document like this AV Script Sample to make it easy for everyone to understand your vision.
Or if you are having difficulty crafting a comprehensive design brief, why not try our new innovation: the Magical Brief Creator, or MBC as we like to call it. Powered by AI, this intuitive tool can help generate clear and concise briefs based on your input, enhancing the brief creation process.
3. Share examples for inspiration
Providing examples will help us understand what your overall vision for the project is minimize the need for revisions. Feel free to choose from our design library or upload past designs to be references.
4. Upload assets for the design
Creating a brand is the first step for us to use in reinforcing your brief but providing us with specific assets such as logo files, images to be used, video clips, color codes, fonts, branding guidelines, and even the brand website will help expedite your requests. We also have the option to use stock assets so feel free to ask for our help on that end.
High-quality designs are created with high-quality assets. When providing photos and videos, high-resolution files will greatly improve the quality of the output.
If you are sharing assets from a private Google Drive folder, make sure to grant access permissions to [email protected].
5. Brief Templates
If you foresee you’ll most likely request similar creatives, we highly recommend creating your own brief templates that you can simply fill out every time you request a set of creatives.
To recap, while a perfect design brief will not guarantee 100% results, it will allow for higher chances of success and help minimize revisions.
In time, as our team works on more of your requests they will become more familiar with your brands and projects. The more consistently you use the service over longer periods of time, the easier and more efficient the workflow will be. Let's work together in maximizing your subscription and creating world-class quality designs!
