A great brand begins with a great brief. Whether you’re requesting a new logo, a brand refresh, or assets that follow existing guidelines. Clear, specific information is the key to successful results.
This article walks you through what to include when submitting branding or logo design requests to help our team hit the mark on the first go.
What to Include in Your Branding Brief
1. Logo Inspiration
Share visual references and examples! This helps us understand your taste, tone, and what to avoid. Show us:
Logos you love (and why)
Logos you dislike (and why)
Any existing branding or mood boards you’ve used before
2. Your Brand’s Voice & Vibe
A few keywords go a long way in setting direction. Answer questions like:
What does your brand stand for?
Who is your audience?
Should the design feel modern, minimal, quirky, professional?
3. Design Format Requirements
Need your final logo in Canva? Editable vector files? Vertical and horizontal versions? Let us know upfront! This avoids rework or delay later on due to file format mismatches, or incomplete design deliverables.
4. One Design Task = One Request
Are you requesting for a logo and brand guide and social media banners and a pitch deck? You need to create and submit these as separate design requests. This helps us process your requests and assign the right designers and turn things around faster.
5. Be Honest with Feedback
We love kind clients. But we really appreciate honest ones. If something isn’t working for you, don't be shy to let us know early on. You’re never hurting our feelings by sharing direct feedback. Instead, this helps us reassign your task or pivot to a new designer that matches your style and preferences better.
Pro Tip: Set Up Your Brand Profile
When you're happy with the designs of the new logo and branding, set up your brand and upload the Brand Guide, Logos, color codes, fonts, and other key info once then never repeat it again. You can even include the request link of the branding request, for your design team's reference. Once it is all set up, you can begin adding the brand in your requests, to give the design team easy access and clear reference to keep your requests and designs consistently on-brand.
